Hello! I'm back. Slightly less tired today, so back to it! I think this should be the final request (unless any more come in), and we're doing one picture for every species there is. That's a total of twelve- which I hope will be a good showcase for this lovely animal.

...Actually, there are more than twelve, but some of them are so rarely seen or hard to find that it's tough to find any pictures of them, and since they're more subspecies of than species, well.

An aquatic spider!

I've wanted to feature this pretty creature for a while. Argyroneta aquatica, also known as the water spider or diving spider, is the only one of its kind. While other spiders might live close to ponds and rivers and some might even walk around on water, this is the only spider that spends its entire life living in water. It breathes by going to the surface, trapping air around its abdomen, then bringing that tiny air bubble underwater with them. That's why, if you see one under water, its body might look shimmery. It's also unique in that the male spiders are actually slightly bigger than the female ones. Very few other species display this trait! Here are two more pictures:

Good day! A request came in, and as it so happens I was planning on featuring the animals that were called for (because it's been a while, and I do like them), so that actually was a wonderful coincidence. We're going a bit more into the sea today, and while I'm not sure how cute these creatures might be, they're definitely colourful and pretty! This once, I'm not giving too much information, just what they're both called and the links to the main wikipedia pages where you can read up a bit more if you're interested. The focus for today is just what they look like. (:

...a (sort of) colourful spider!

This little lady is Tutelina Elegans, a small iridiscent spider. We can tell she's a girl because they're sexually dimorphic, and the males are more golden rather than green and also have a funny hairdo, like so:

They're pretty spiders- though really, if you see them in real life, they're probably not going to look that impressive.

Here's one on a leaf next to a thumbnail. Though there are bigger species of jumping spiders out there, most of the ones you might encounter aren't going to be much larger than this.
