We covered the Chinese Zodiac yesterday, so today we do the Western one!

Aries - Ram

Taurus - Bull

Gemini - Twin Kittens

Cancer - Crab

Leo - Lion

Virgo - GIrl and Bird

Libra - Echidna

Scorpio - Scorpion

Sagittarius - Boy and Horse

Capricorn - Goat

Aquarius - Elephant

Pisces - Fish

And of course the next animal doesn't have any place here, but...

Let's have a look at today's spider! It's another colourful one, but not a jumping spider.

This is Leucauge venusta, and it's an orb weaver, also known as the orchard spider. Many of them are very colourful- and while I've featured orb weavers before, those have been the more jewel-like ones, with funny shapes. These guys (as well as the Golden Orb Weavers) look more like what people expect of spiders, except also at the same time like Brazillian football fans. It lives mostly around the US, along the East Coast, and is more or less harmless to humans, though not to pests.
